In-Home
Services
Clients must be Cobb County residents and 60
years or older. Eligibility and amount of services needed
will be determined through assessment. Sliding scale
fees based upon total household income. For

In-Home Services allows the senior citizen to remain more
independent and able to reside in her/his own home. Technicians
are trained in basic caregiving. No skilled care.
- Personal
Care - One hour twice weekly. Includes assistance with
basic hygiene and dressing. Light meal preparation, straightening
of immediate surroundings. Client provides personal items.
- Chore Care - One hour weekly or two hours twice
a month. Light and minimal chore service for clients physically
unable to do for themselves. May include cleaning the bathroom,
light mopping, vacuuming, dusting, linen change and taking
out the trash. Laundry, if appliances are on premises. Client
supplies all items.

Nutrition
Services
MEALS
ON WHEELS
Over
45,000 meals are served each year through Meals On Wheels.
All meals meet USDA requirements and are prepared by a vendor
under contract with Cobb County Government. Volunteers are
needed to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors
Monday - Friday. A visit from a cheery volunteer can
do wonders! For more information on becoming a volunteer,
please call 770-528-5381.
Eligibility to receive Meals On Wheels:
Clients must be Cobb County residents, age 60 or older, and
must complete an assessment by calling 770-528-5364.

Adopt-A-Route
Your
company, church, or organization can Adopt-A-Route and deliver
a hot, nutritious meal to Seniors in your neighborhood!

Each
weekday, Cobb's four Neighborhood
Centers: Austell, North Cobb, Marietta and Smyrna, serve hot,
nutritious lunches in a personal, friendly atmosphere. All
meals meet USDA requirements and are prepared by a vendor
under contract with Cobb County Government.
These Centers also host activities such as music, arts and
crafts, games, exercise, trips and special events. Managed
by a program leader and assisted by volunteers and a site
council, these facilities maintain information on nutrition,
health, counseling and community resources.
Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8a.m. to
4p.m. Door–to-door transportation is provided for Clients
who are eligible.
Eligibility:
Clients must be age 60 or older. For further eligibility information,

Transportation
Services
Transportation is provided door-to-door to senior citizens
in Cobb County, who are eligible for service. Approximately
1350 clients are served annually.
Fixed Route - Transportation is provided
to the four senior Neighborhood Centers and to the Senior
Day Center on a pre-scheduled basis.
Demand Response - Appointments are pre-scheduled
to medical facilities. Clients are asked to make appointments
in advance.

Senior Day Center
The Senior Day Center offers programs designed
to enhance the quality of life for the dependent senior. With
the County's senior population expected to double by the year
2030 much needed services have been developed by Cobb Senior
Services to provide assistance to older persons, their families
and caregivers.
With daily operations in Marietta, GA, the program is a combination
of health and social services designed to:
- help
prevent the premature placement into long term care facilities;
- help
mentally or physically impaired adults maintain and/or improve
their self esteem;
- offer
participants opportunities to socialize, enjoy peer support,
and receive medical and social services in a stimulating
environment while sustaining independence; and
- provide
assistance to families and caregivers who are responsible
for an impaired older adult requiring 24·hour care.
The support
given at Senior Day Center allows participants to preserve their
precious independence while providing beneficial respite to
family members and caregivers. Additional benefits include monetary
savings for families and taxpayers by delaying placement into
a long-term facility.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for enrollment in Senior Day
Center, a participant must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be
a legal resident of Cobb County, GA.
- Be
at least 55 years old.
- Not
require constant one-on-one care or display behavior that
is disruptive to the group.
- Be
mobile via a walker or personal wheelchair.
- Have
an annual physical examination.
- Participate
in an interview with the registered nurse/coordinator.
